What is The Refuge?

The Refuge is a retreat center, operated for two purposes:
  1. To provide a safe place for victims to catch their breath, assess their situation, connect with necessary resources in their own area, and develop a strategy for moving forward safely.
  2. To provide a place for advocates and others who desire to learn how to recognize and respond to abuse. This is accomplished with in-person seminars as well as individualized coaching with respect to specific problems or cases.
While here, we work with guests to tailor their time to meet specific needs. Depending on availability, we are able to accommodate a wide variety of groups, from a victim by themself or with children to a married couple who want to learn how to work as a team in advocating for victims of abuse.

We are well aware that many who need to come are unable to cover the costs of a stay, so there are generous people and churches who have chosen to fund scholarships that will either partially or fully cover those costs.

Register as a guest by choosing one of the two options below.
